Team meetings by the sea? Yes please!
We were recently asked for our top 10 fave’s in Mandurah for a team day and this got us thinking about 4 that we have been to a few times in recent months. Here’s a brief summary…
We like Mandurah. There’s something about ‘heading south’ (for us at least), and we feel that groups have that sense of a ‘sea change’ when they get there. This makes for a great day in the world of team building, meetings and events where it’s all about connection. If you can make it an overnighter for your team, then even better. The tourist attractions of Mandurah are wide and varied. It can be surprisingly busy, so book early!
The highlight for us is the proximity to the water. Selfishly (we admit), we usually get in the ocean for a dip before our sessions, so we’re not complaining about Mandurah at any time of year.
Our Venue Insights
Seashells Mandurah
In no particular order, let’s start with Seashells Mandurah. You know you’re off to a good start when your conference room is a stone’s throw from the ocean. The Ward Room, is naturally light-filled and perfect for smaller groups up to 50 people, a great fit for the Rapid Teams style of interactive facilitation. Plus, there’s the bonus of on-sight overnight accommodation and the opportunity to pack your runners for a coastal jog, a game of tennis, or time to just chill in the infinity pool. During a recent program, we simply opened the doors out to the BBQ area at lunch and let the salty breeze do the rest. Hard to beat!
The Sebel Mandurah
Next, there’s The Sebel Mandurah, just a few minutes away but offering something a little different. Their conference rooms manage small, medium and large groups with the Acacia Room holding up to 180 people and the adaptable wall dividers offer flexibility. The views across Mandjar Bay are spectacular, though we’ll admit they can be a bit of a distraction when you’re trying to keep a team focused on a planning session. Still, no one’s complaining when the day wraps up with a stroll down to the Peninsula Bar and Restaurant or a quiet debrief on the pool deck.
Mandurah Offshore Sailing & Fishing Club
We also really enjoy working with conferences and events at the Mandurah Offshore Sailing & Fishing Club – it’s a bit of a hidden gem. The venue feels like you’re perched right on the jetty, ready to hoist the sails and set off, as you are at the intersection of the estuary and the ocean. It’s a perfect fit for our larger-scale experiential team building programs, with an excellent outdoor space and just a three-minute drive from the centre of town with a stack of parking. It’s also where we’ve seen some terrific team engagement – something about being near the water and breeze, opens up honest team conversations (the kind that don’t always happen in the office).
Meadow Springs Golf & Country Club
Our final mention is the Meadow Springs Golf & Country Club. We are certain this venue sees many conferences, given its professional appearance, amazing views and quality menu. We’re not golfers per se, but we were certainly pleased with this venue. The views were lush and green with a few outdoor ‘break out’ areas to keep the group moving and circulating. Heading from the Perth CBD, Meadow Springs is around 10 minutes before Mandurah and slightly inland. It’s a worthy venue, when considering your top 10 Mandurah meeting, events and conference spaces.
Oh, and by the way! We don’t know this for a fact, but our guess is that Meadow Springs, Sebel, Seashells and the Mandurah Offshore Sailing & Fishing Club are all popular for weddings. Meaning, at certain times of the year this means getting in early!
